Session 1: John Stawarz is the online learning librarian at Syracuse University, where he supports the library's creation of digital learning objects, including video tutorials. John also teaches the course “Creating Digital Learning Objects for Libraries” through Library Juice Academy and received his MSLIS and MS Instructional Design, Development & Evaluation from Syracuse University.
Video tutorials can help libraries support patrons in new and immediate ways, especially as patrons increasingly connect with libraries online. Whether you and your library are new to creating video tutorials, or you’d like to boost your video-making skills, this webinar will offer tips and strategies related to recording technologies, editing software, instructional design, narration scripts, accessibility, inclusive practices, user testing, updating your existing videos, and other related topics
Session 2: Deb Lucas-Alfieri has been the Head of Library Services at D’Youville College in Buffalo, NY, since 2002. She has been an online instructor in Library Studies since 2012, working for organizations such as Library Juice Academy, Simmons College, and RUSA. Information about student retention and the librarian's role will be covered as well as information about emotional intelligence for librarians.
Discussion about all sessions will take place the last 30 minutes of the event.
